Technical Approach

Learn how FCP fits into the greater catalog management effort that GSA maintains, including the VPP, ACR, and Advantage.

High-Level Approach

To accomplish this modernization effort, a phased, multi-year approach is being used starting with an initial MVP that focuses on MAS catalogs and ending with the retirement of all legacy systems, including PICS, SIP and CORS.

The Authoritative Catalog Repository (ACR) will serve as a new “back-end” catalog data repository that simplifies GSA’s current catalog management data storage infrastructure.

The Verified Products Portal (VPP) is a manufacturer-facing portal containing authoritative product content, including standardized manufacturer names, part numbers, and specifications. This syndicated content, provided directly from the manufacturers and other verified sources, includes images, product videos, and PDF documents for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.

The FAS Catalog Platform (FCP) is a complementary system to integrate the contract process (offer & modification) with the catalog management process for vendors and the Acquisition Workforce (AWF) to submit, review, negotiate, approve, change, and maintain catalog data. The FCP is not intended for customer agencies (i.e., consumer usage). The FCP is a workflow management tool and User Interface (UI) for submission of catalog data. FCP also provides improved UX when submitting, modifying, and managing FAS catalogs. The improved UX reduces the time-consuming and administratively burdensome work related to duplicate submissions and maintenance of catalogs for vendors. It also shortens the catalog processing lead time, allowing for more immediate catalog consumption by GSA customers.
