FSS19 Phase 3 Modernization

The FSSOnline, eFSSOnline, Contracting Services, and MassMods applications (and related Cobol programs) are critical to the FSS-19 systems’ suite of applications and broader acquisition process. They all depend on the Unisys Clearpath Mainframe, which is targeted for decommissioning by FY26 based on the direction of the Federal Acquisition Services (FAS) Commissioner. The cloud ready applications (Contracting Services and MassMods) will be lifted and shifted to the cloud, and the other applications (FSSOnline, eFSSOnline, and Cobol programs) will be transformed and rewritten into a cloud native application, Acquire. The applications will be established in the FAS Cloud Services (FCS) Multi-tenant Container as-a-Service (MCaaS) cloud environment. This effort will support two key business and IT objectives - removing the Mainframe dependency and allowing the legacy applications to reap the benefits of the cloud.

Key advantages of the FCS Cloud Ecosystem include - faster deployments, scalable infrastructure, data integration, enhanced monitoring, mature disaster recovery, accelerated Authority To Operate (ATO), and microservices architecture.
