High-Level Modernization Roadmap

SmartPay Data Warehouse (SPDW) Project Execution Timeline

This timeline shows the progression of the SPDW project:

Project Start - Sept 2020

After obtaining project approval from FSA-PHSC and GSA IT leadership the SmartPay project began during Sept 2020.

Phase 1 - Go Live May 2021

Phase 1 of the SPDW modernization began in September 2020 to move the SPDW portal and users from on premise servers to the FCS Immutable Compute Deployment (formerly EBTA) and FCS data environments. After 9 months of development, testing, data migration, UAT and obtaining an ATO, the SPDW phase 1 was successfully deployed into production.

Phase 2 - Go Live February 2022

Phase 2 of the SPDW modernization followed the successful deployment of phase 1. Some of the important/key features implemented with phase 2 were migration of the staging data load processes, implementation of Smartpay 2 reports and dashboards, migration of the processing of raw data for aggregations, warehousing and creation of various data marts from on-prem servers to FCS data environment.

Future/Long-Term Plans

Implementation of Valut KMS and Spark data lake (on-prem) to manage Smartpay 2 data which contains PCI and PII elements. Continue collaboration with FCS data and Immutable Compute Deployment teams to implement key management, file transfer, Tableau integration with Okta/MFA to enhance current offerings streamlining automation and data processing.
