Cloud Ecosystem of Managed Services
Standard Infrastructure
Standard Infrastructure capabilities provide the foundational services so that users internal and external to GSA can access applications in a secure and performant way.
Description
IaC services provide the ability to describe cloud resources as code and apply those definitions to the provisioning and deprovisioning of cloud resources.
Key Capabilities Include:
- Describe - Ability to express the cloud resources in a standard format.
- Apply - The ability to synchronize the physical cloud resources with the definition.
- Extend - The ability to define new service offerings to be able to be controlled via the same IaC construct.
- Version Control - Ability to persist the code describing the infrastructure in a code repository.
Maturity:
FCS believes this capability has reached a level of maturity in FCS where it can be broadly deployed and used by FCS Tenants. Uses and limitations are well understood and costs have been baselined.

Description
The networking services allow communication internal and external to the GSA ecosystem.
Key Capabilities Include:
- DNS - Implementation of the domain name system specification to allow resolution of IP addresses by domain name.
- Routing - Define the paths for how network traffic should flow across the envirionment, within and across cloud accounts.
- Reverse Proxying - Provides a level of abstraction to faciliate levels of separation from client to server.
Maturity:
FCS believes this capability has reached a level of maturity in FCS where it can be used and deployed in a limited capacity or upon special request from a customer/tenant.

Description
The edge facilitates connectivity between the services operating in the cloud environment and either the public internet or private data centers.
Key Capabilities Include:
- Dedicated Network - The ability to connect private data centers to public clouds through dedicated networks physically isolated from the public internet infrastructure.
- Internet Gateway - The ability to provide public internet connections ingress and egress to services operating in the cloud environment.

Description
The Content Delivery Network (CDN) services provide a means for applications to ...
Key Capabilities Include:
- Content Acceleration - Leveraging a series of geographically distributed nodes to deliver cached or static assets to end-users with high-speed and low latency.
- WAF - Apply various security rules and protections for requests being delivered to the origin.
- DOS Protection - Reduce the impact of DOS attacks by offloading traffic from the origin and additional security measures.
Maturity:
FCS is exploring the capabilities in this area. It is is currently in as a proof of concept phase and not ready for broad consumption.
